From Gotham to Metropolis is an album with mellow beats and a solid lyrical core.

Philly born, Phoenix resident rapper and teacher Random (Random Beats, Big Ran, Mega Ran) is ready to release a new project, an EP entitled "Patches and Glue."

It comes as no surprise being that since Random teaches the youth, he didn't have to look any further than his own adolescent years for inspiration.

"Childhood memories helped me with this concept," Random says, "On the block, everybody had a bike, and when you got a flat tire, you needed patches and glue in order to keep moving." "This album depicts what has helped to keep me moving, humor and hope."

"Patches" manages to cram the fun nostalgia of "Mega Ran" and the introspective soul bearing of "The Call" into one 9-track package. Songs like "The Getdown" and "Inbox" showcase Ran's witty side, while "Fly" and "Twice Over" provides us a glimpse of Random's never-ending struggle as an educator and musician, all the while offering hope for the future.

"Patches and Glue" features stunning production by RAHM Nation's DN3, Ohene and Storyville; K-Murdock of Panacea (Rawkus Records), Raze Brooks, JonBap and accomplished producer 88-Keys, known for his work with Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Kanye West and more.

Random and producer DN3 host a weekly podcast, entitled RAHM Radio West which has featured such artists as Little Brother, Shock G, EMC and many more.

"This project is all of me, Mega Ran, Random Beats, Big Ran, held together by patches and glue."

Random's past projects, 2007's "Mega Ran" and 2006's "The Call," were both met with high acclaim and this anticipated RAHM Nation album is expected to repeat success. Recently, mulitnational corporation Capcom granted Random an exclusive license and approval for the "Mega Ran" album, and its music appears in the independent film "Second Skin"  which is also gaining rave reviews.

"Patches and Glue is not a band aid; it's stronger. but it's not the cure," says Ran. "I'm still working on that."

We all wonder what lies beyond the stars. Cosmic collisions, alien life, black holes... but the concept of a tenth planet is now reality. Not in the form of a galactic mass but in the form of a Hip Hop group that strives to go where no group has gone before, against the grain, above the norm & beyond the stars. Described as an eclectic, neo soul group, 10th Planet blends the realness and consciousness of Old School Hip Hop with the power & wit of modern day rap. Covering a spectrum of topics including their viewpoint of politics, to battle raps, to shaking that thang, 10th Planet is a group like no other. Consisting of four core members, the 10th Planet family has roots spanning from the south to the west coast. The producer, 9Ether, hails from Atlanta, GA and has been composing tracks since 1997 & rapping since 1992. He moved to L.A. in 1999 to persue acting. Young Black Male is an L.A. import as well. Born and raised in New Orleans, Black has been rapping since 1991. Marcus Earl and A- Theory are natives of Inglewood, Ca., best friends and former members of the L.A. based group Blac Lung. Zeus Novus, a founding member with a extensive library of raps, is from Seattle, Wa. and combines with the other four members to solidify 10th Planet. 10th Planet has a significant grass roots following. Selling over 15,000 out of the trunk and online, and ripping the crowd at every show they do, 'da Planet' has only begun to leave their mark on the world of music. So if you've been searching for the next level in Hip Hop, look no further than the 10th Planet, soon to be in your orbit.

Russian Rullet 04/21/2008

Russian Rullet

Living in Inglewood California Rullet knows the hood. He is definitely not just another rapper filling his lyrics with cliches and stereotypes. He is an artist who speaks his mind and his life. He knows his hood isn't the only hood. He knows there are problems everywhere.

"You just got to be a strong minded person to make it and not get caught in the bullshit ya know." Rullet

Rullet obviously wants to uplift the people, He has a message to send: The Truth.

When you listen to his song "If I Had A Chance" you can feel the emotion and realness in his voice when he says"I'd write something that could feel so good, and not kill, rather heal the hood"

My favorite song right now "Underneath Tha Bullett" starts off with a dedication : "Dedicated to the innocent , the loved ones lost, and the ones still standing,we all got a calling, I was just blessed with words, so I'd rather uplift than to enslave us. Hard point of view. Hard story. My words. Underneath the bullet. Outside Lookin In"

For me this introduction/dedication sums up what Rullet is about. What his mission as an artist is. Not just to make bills but to make a statement.

"My mind frame is like the truth needs to be told,a lot of rappers feel pleased about going in the studio and makin a hot song,I'm pleased not just when i make a hot song but when you can deliver a message and get people to listen thats a blessing in it self so I'm focused on makin a statement in hip hop and my community when i step in the booth for Underneath The Bullets." ----Rullet

If you need more convincing that this is a must listen then read this:

"death be like a domino effect, the black Tee's white Tee's , criminal minds, satans design to trick you with subliminal rhymes"------from underneath tha bullet

"..too much hood pride. Homicide. Homicidal thoughts. Suicidal loss. Death by the gun, not Tylenol. One body, two body, three body nights. My hood sickdid we forget the value of life, the lost souls, hell bound, fit for the fire. The truth is here minus the habitual liar"----from underneath tha bullet

Ok I have to stop quoting him or you will read the whole song before you hear it!

I could say that Rullet spits like fire, I could compare him to Nas (and I do) but isn't that usually what you read in a review:

So and so sounds like so and so. he's not as good as. Etc.etc.blah..blah.blah

Well I just can't do that to Rullet. He is a street poet. A speaker of truth. He flows hard but not grimy. The way he chooses his words bring the message alive.

In my opinion this man has it.

He could be great, but he already is. Just listen. Stop by his page ...show him some love...he deserves it...
